HELP FORKIDS

Ending Child and Student Hunger is a top priority for us. We provide 1 in 3 Monterey County children with nutrition to develop, learn and thrive. From supporting school meal programs to stocking college pantries, this means our unique strategies reach thousands of hungry children, teens, and college students every day. When entire families are nourished, children can focus on playing, reading, and learning – not on worrying where their next meal will come from.

Kids N.O.W. - Nutrition On Weekends

Kids N.O.W. – Nutrition On Weekends – is our cornerstone program to address child hunger in our community. Through this program, children in need are provided a bag of food to take home with them over weekends and school breaks, so students come back Monday nourished and ready to learn.

Far too many children rely on school meals as their only stable source of nutrition and times away from school are times of uncertainty, and often, hunger. We currently serve over 2000 children each week and are working to expand the program.

In the schools we currently serve, 90% of the children live in poverty. This program assures children of a continuous reliable supply of a variety of food containing all of the vital nutrients they require for normal growth and development and brings peace of mind to struggling families.

Kids N.E.E.D. - Nutrition Encouraged Every Day

Kids N.E.E.D. – Nutrition Encouraged Every Day – The COVID crisis has been especially hard on kids and schools in Monterey County. To ensure that no child ever goes hungry we created the Kids N.E.E.D—program. Children in need are provided a bag of food to take home with them each week. This program assures children of a continuous, reliable supply of a variety of nutritious food containing all of the vital nutrients they require for normal growth and development and brings peace of mind to struggling families.
